Our most popular variety, Canturf Canberra Blend, is proudly cultivated right here in Canberra and excels where other lawns in our region often struggle. It was specially designed to endure our harsh climate, characterized by extreme temperatures and frosts.
Canberra Blend is 75% Tall fescue which makes a thick, soft underfoot grass that is more drought tolerant then other cool climate grass species due to its deep roots. It is an adaptable grass popular among homeowners in transitional climates as it has a high tolerance for both hot and cold weather and flourishes in our frosty winters. The deep root system provides safety from our hot Canberra summers and is able to find nutrients and moisture in almost any soil type. Tall fescue is a tough grass that is a good choice for play areas, though it may require reseeding when bare spots occur.
The other 25% is Kentucky Blue Grass, a beautiful fine leaf grass that true to its name has an almost blue tinge to its dark green foliage. It has an extremely soft texture and grows as a consistent level surface. Kentucky Blue grass is extremely frost tolerant.
The combination creates our Canberra Blend; a shade-tolerant grass celebrated for its lush and thick appearance, thriving in part shade or full sun, made for our Canberra climate.
Canberra Blend is vibrant and green all year with no winter dormancy or browning typically seen in warm-season grasses in our region. To effectively manage summer heat, we recommend installing a watering system prior to laying the grass, ensuring easy maintenance during the warmer months.

With your turf delivery, you’ll receive an information pack that includes care instructions for your new lawn, as well as a voucher for a free pack of Canturf's Grow Green fertiliser, redeemable at selected garden centres or at our farm in Fyshwick.
